Polly Wood: Artist Statement

I am a work in progress and I am play in progress. All of my work and all of my play is expressed as offerings of devotion to the preservation of the Divine, Sacred Feminine Energy of the Universe. I often refer to this energy as the Goddess and I name her creative embodiment Radwoman. I envision a world where the Sacred Masculine and the Sacred Feminine are both present and supportive of one another, in all circles of human culture. I believe creative thinking can lead towards solutions for a sustainable future for ourselves, our children, and the Earth who sustains us all.

My artistic work, be it music, dance, or visual art, currently explores ways to creatively demystify and increase visibility of the Sacred Feminine in political arenas, and to acknowledge Her presence or lack thereof in our global economy. Through extensive research of menstrual (Metaformic) theory, human blood rituals, and global economics, I am developing an artistic vocabulary to speak about the blood economy and the roots of value, including how we value ourselves, who creates the systems of value that we measure ourselves by, and what value does or doesn’t have to do with money. I ask myself daily, “How do we measure that which is sacred?” and “How do we measure those things we truly consider “priceless”?”
WHO IS RADWOMAN?
Radwoman is an ever-emerging embodiment of the Divine, Sacred Feminine. Polly Wood's work and play is in devotion to Radwoman in her many expressions.
